Industry Experience

With over 35 years of HR leadership and coaching across multiple industries and cultures, Jan is a results-focused global executive who has held key leadership positions with four Fortune 50 firms: McDonnell Douglas, Boeing, UBS, and Royal Bank of Canada.

In 2009, he joined the Royal Bank of Canada as Head of Leadership Development. Headquartered in Toronto, RBC is Canada’s largest bank and the 10th largest diversified financial service firm in the world. He led the Leadership Development and Executive Caching practices designed to build focus, alignment, and capability across RBC’s executive, and HiPo populations.

In 2004, Jan served as Executive Director of the UBS Leadership Institute, one of the world’s largest financial services organizations. Wilmott’s global team established strategic direction for enterprise-wide talent management process, systems, and tools focused on developing the Key Talent pipeline in Zurich, London, & New York.

As Head of Executive Development for Boeing, Jan helped designed, built, and opened The Boeing Leadership Center, a $100M residence facility with a $42M annual budget. Jan and his team were responsible for developing transformational learning experiences for Boeing’s ~20,000 leaders.

Coaching Approach

The essence of coaching is helping leaders get unstuck from dilemmas and assisting them to transfer their insights into results for themselves and the organization. Jan helps clients maximize their performance by analyzing strengths and development opportunities, clarifying goals, and developing actionable plans that eliminate obstacles that stand in the way of success.

Jan graduated from the University of San Francisco with a B.S. in Organization Behavior and earned an Executive MBA from Washington University in Saint Louis. He holds certificates in Finance from The Wharton Business School and Strategy & Organization from Stanford’s Graduate School of Business.
